1. Who is allowed to rent?
Only students whose major is registered with the Willem de Kooning Academy, masters with the Piet Zwart Institute, students with the Associate Degree Arts & Crafts and the affiliated staff (hereafter referred to as ‘lessee’) are allowed to rent equipment from the WdKA.Rental (hereafter referred to as ‘lessor’) on presentation of a valid student or employee card.
2. Rental Process
The WdKA.Rental operates along the following procedure:
- Lessee applies for the required equipment through WdKA.Rental Request Portal.

- Lessor approves or denies submitted request for equipment.
- Lessee receives an email of confirmation or cancellation.
- In case of confirmation lessor assigns time slots for both pick-up and drop-off dates.
- Upon pick-up lessee receives a Packing Slip via email as a confirmation of pick-up.
WdKA.Rental reserves itself the right to deny a student our services on grounds we will communicate to you beforehand.

4. Punitive Measures
Unfortunately the WdKA.Rental has been forced to install a penalty system to enforce its return policies. Please take note of the following rules and its consequences. The following penalties are non-negotiable and will be issued immediately upon transgression.
Days late | Penalty points | Penalty |
1 day late | One point to your account | Rental suspension of two weeks |
2 days late | Two points to your account | Rental suspension of three weeks |
3 days late | Three points to your account | Rental suspension of one month |
> 5 days late | Four points to your account | Rental ban until the end of school year. |
> 12 days late | Four points to your account | Full ban until graduation and your department’s head teacher will be contacted. |
Also keep in mind that the above points will stack, so if you return equipment one day late on four separate occasions you will have accumulated four points and be banned for the rest of the year. In the case of being late for more than a month (or not returning equipment at all) you will be fully banned until graduation and your department’s head teacher will also be contacted in order to get the equipment back.
Again: please understand that if you willfully do not return equipment after 60 days you risk police involvement.
5. Specific equipment
Certain types of equipment are reserved for select students only, this means they are only for specific students of specific departments or students who have received extra instruction on the equipment in question. This is a non-negiotiable rule. When asked for your department please answer truthfully. If you lie and we find out you will be automatically banned from renting any equipment for the whole year. Renting out select student equipment and passing it on to a student whose department is not eligible for use of the equipment will also result in a full ban until the end of the school year for all students involved.
